Details: LocationThe goal Project Freedom Quest is to journey deep into nature, away from other people and modern life. Our trip takes place in the Snow Mountain Wilderness (SMW). The wilderness area is part of the Mendocino National Forest and is north of Clear Lake. SMW is one of California's best kept secrets; it's a beautful area that is seldom visited and provides a quiet and unpopulated place for our trip. At just over 7000 feet, Snow mountain peak is the highest mountian in the coast range. On a clear day you can see the ocean, Mt. Shasta and even to Mt. Diablo. One of the highlights of SMW is stoney falls, a 50 foot waterfall with a nice pool below for swimming. In the summer, days are usually warm and nights are cool. There are plenty of springs for water and nice places to camp. For more information on SMW, click here. |
