A man is ultimately guided by his purpose-a deep felt desire to bring his gifts to the world. The discovery of a man's purpose is a life-long pursuit-a constant re-examination of his actions and their impact. When a man knows his purpose, he lives a directed, fulfilled life; he has bearing and focus. Men desire deeply to be moving forward, pursuing goals, and focusing. For a young man, a sense of purpose is important as a guide for making decisions in life. As a boy matures into a young man, he begins to feel the call to define himself and find his true path. In the past, a young man was ready to choose a path in life as a teenager.
These days, men find themselves in school into their twenties and seldom get a good chance to uncover their purpose. Without a sense of direction, many young men feel uncertain and confused. In school, young men learn math or art or reading, but they are not encouraged to find their purpose. As we travel into the wilderness, we can come to find a spiritual connection to purpose. We can come to know our own unique spirit and learn how that spirit desires to be seen in the world.
